The material
What is oud?
Oud — also called agarwood — is a dark, fragrant resin formed in the heartwood of the Aquilaria tree. Prized for centuries across the Middle East and Asia, it is one of the most treasured materials in perfumery: woody, smoky, leathery and warm.
In Arabian perfumery oud is rarely worn alone. It is layered with rose, saffron, amber and incense to create fragrances with depth and presence — the tradition every Montclair oud hybrid is built on.

How to wear it
Wearing oud in the Australian climate
Oud is powerful, so a little goes a long way. In Queensland’s heat, one or two sprays on the chest or behind the ears is plenty; in winter, add one to the wrists or clothing for a longer trail.

What does oud smell like?
Oud is deep, woody and resinous, with smoky, leathery and slightly sweet facets. On its own it can be intense; blended with amber, rose, saffron or tonka it becomes rich, warm and luxurious.
